Potential new buyer: Owner/GM questions

Hello all. I bought BM 2008 a couple of weeks ago, and I'm not real enamored with it. It's fun to play but not really what I'm looking for.

I want to be the owner or general manager of the Oakland A's. I want my MLB to have a salary cap so the small markets can compete and the Yankees/Red Sox, etc cannot just buy the players whenever they want.

I want to have a say in the free agents we sign and what we pay them, and in who we draft, because I want to try the Moneyball system Billy Beane uses.

What I do not want to do is set the lineups, and roster moves between the farm clubs and the parent clubs from day to day. I want my coaches (i.e., the computer) to handle this. This is something BM2008 doesn't do very well.

I also want to be able to watch the actual games from the g.m. box without having to manage the team on the field, not just have to quick sim them unless I'm the field manager.

Will OOTP 2007 allow me these freedoms? The demo seems to give me the impression I can't watch the pbp unless I'm the field manager.
Thank you.

You can assign whatever salary cap you choose to the league.

You can choose whatever F.A. want to sign with you and assuming you have enough money. You can choose their pay but they give you a general outline of what they want and if you don't give them close to what they want, they won't sign. You can also choose who you draft.

You can assign this all to your Manager in the options menu.

You are able to "watch" a game and not have to manage a team.

It seems like OOTP has every one of your requests, I hope you buy it, it's an awesome game IMO.

Thanks for the reply. It appears I will indeed be purchasing OOTP2007 later this week, and hopefully begin guiding my A's to new heights.

While you're at it, try to get a refund for BM 2008. You might as well get your money back if you can, because I'm sure you'll be using OOTP instead.

Hah hah, that would be nice. However, I bought BM at Best Buy and they don't refund computer games, they only exchange them. There's nothing else I would want.

I can think of a few games you could get me.
