Can't open almanac

I'm not sure if this is a support issue, or just my ignorance (I'm sure it's the latter!), but I can't seem to open the almanac I generated. I've only had the game a few weeks, so I'm still in the middle of the learning curve. I did set the almanac options I wanted, and after about an hour, it was done. Under the "Game" menu, I chose "Open Almanac, Almanac 1990", which was the one I just created.

Nothing happens.

Do I have to find the files it generated and open in an external browser? Where do the almanac files live?

I checked the manual, it just says to choose the "Open Almanac" feature.

I am on a Mac PowerBook G4, 17", 1.33GHz, with 1.5 GB of Ram, 10.4.10, running OOTP 2007 2.0.2.53.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The almanac files live here:

\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\[your game name].lg\news

Three quick suggestions:

1. Advance the game one day. I've noticed that it is not available the same day sometimes.

2. If not available, try again and look for it in the above location.

3. Check the almanac options and make sure you are actually generating reports.

Thanks, I found the path to the almanac files. Should the almanac open directly in OOTP or im my external browser? I'm on a Mac, using Safari. Can't get it to open directly from OOTP, but can open the files by clicking on the files directly.

Yes, there is an index file inside the almanac folder; that's all you have to open in your browser. And, all the files are included inside the folder, so you can move it* and store it elsewhere and make a link to the index file for easy access.

However, you should be able to open it using the menu in this fashion, so something is still wrong if you cannot:*

*See below. I also wanted to mention that if you do move the almanac someplace else, the OOTP menu prompt will definitely not work and you will see the second message instead.

Apologies; I forgot that you mentioned that you were using this menu and that the almanac selection did appear on it. But, this prompted a question in my mind as to whether it's your browser at fault instead of OOTP.

Here's a test: Go to one of the league reports that opens up a SION page, news or transactions would be fine. Look for and click the button that says Open in External Browser. Does it open the report in your Internet browser program? If it does not, then it could be the interaction of OOTP and your browser that is the problem. Perhaps reinstalling OOTP might refresh the linkage, or there could be a problem with your browser program settings.

I'm grasping at straws here, I know. If you can't resolve the problem and don't get a better response here, maybe you should take it over to the Tech Support forum.
