Relievers Roles

Anyone willing to give a quick primer on what to look for in Relievers to fill the various roles?

I'm never sure which reliever will make a great closer, which ones for set-up, etc. I typically just let the manager make the decisions.

There's some hints in the manual on the subject, and this thread has some more discussion.

To summarize (and add my thoughts):

* Put your best overall reliever as the closer. Endurance is unimportant.
* Put your next best reliever as setup #1. Again, endurance is not terribly important.
* Put your next best reliever as MR #1. Endurance is more important here, since they tend to come in earlier than the setup and closer and might pitch more innings.
* Beyond that, it depends on your staff and your settings. With modern settings, you probably have 6 or more relievers. Slot the rest of them behind your best guys. If you have any spot starters, they're naturals for the mopup slot. With other historical settings, you probably have fewer relievers but the starters go longer. Double slot the relievers you do have (e.g., put the same guy in setup #2 and MR #1).

I believe the game favors high stuff ratings and K/9 stats for the closer and set up positions.
