Newbie Questions

I just got OOTP2007 yesterday and I must confess I am overwhelmed. Having previously played the very simple and user-friendly Baseball Mogul, I am a little intimidated by the incredible depth that OOTP2007 apparently offers. So I just have one starter question for now, which hopefully will be easy to answer... Oh, it should be noted that I play OOTP2007 on a MacBook.

Importing rosters - I downloaded the CubbyFan roster file because I want to play with real names, etc. I placed the entire folder which was automatically named MLB07 in the OOTP2007 Data folder. I start a New Game and select Create League From Template. This is where I run into a problem because the next window does not allow me to view any templates, nor does it allow me to go up or down any folder levels. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks everyone!

A quick reply that is hopefully helpful; otherwise, you will have to wait for a Mac user to answer.

Inside your My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data (or whatever the path is on a Mac) folder, is there another called saved_games? If so, then I believe you should move the entire MLB07.lg folder into that saved_games folder. Then, you would use Load Game, not New Game, to call it up and start playing.

Welcome to OOTP! I've never played BM myself, but all the people I know who have came here the same way you did and never looked back!

Welcome smaller!

I am a MacBook Pro user myself, and I have 2 OOTP 2007 installed on my MacBook, one on my Mac OS, and another on my Windows XP. (Using the Bootcamp)
I bought the Mac version first, before I got my MacBook Pro, and after I installed the Bootcamp with Windows XP onto it, I could not resist to install the Windows version OOTP, so that I could use those small applications that were designed only for the Windows users! (Stupid, ha? yes, I bought 2 games!)

I think the game on Windows is apparently faster than the one on Mac OS, but the one on Mac OS is much stable. (No crash or whatsoever) I am not saying that Windows versions are not stable, probably it has something to do with my using Windows w/Bootcamp etc.

And, even though those applications like autoface are great, they are not the things you can not live without.

There are many Mac users on this forum, so whenever you have a problem with the game, come back here and ask for help!

Also, I am 100% sure you will get used to the game very soon, as a stupid Japanese (me) could learn the game quickly!

We're not falling for that myasu. We know well that the Japanese culture now runs very deep with baseball.

Well, RonCo,

At least, we did not come up with the idea of creating a game which drives all of us adults crazy like this!

Before somehow bump into this game, I was happy playing one of those Playstation baseball games...

Ironically, at least in the case of OOTP, you cannot blame us Americans either!

Is Markus blond or dark-haired? If the latter then we possibly can because you saved our butts in the 40s and prevented a Aryan-super race of blond Teutons running the world. Baseball would be an underground sport in Europe and thus probably not a need for a German to write a great game about it...

(I reckon we can find a reason to blame anyone for anything nowadays - it's a sad indictment of the world we live in)

Come to think of it,
it is not such a sad world after all.
Now we Americans, British, Japanese, everybody playing the same game that was created by a German!!
We can all get along fine, can not we?

Yes, the four of us (including Markus) can get along quite well these days, especially with baseball to bind us together. Would that were the case with all the peoples of the world. Unfortunately, we have new enemies these days. They lack baseball, alas.

1998 Yankees,

All you need beside baseball is soccer!
With soccer and baseball, you could talk to anybody on this planet.
