Playing games online

I know the manual doesn't address letting a manager(s) actually play his games in an online league instead of the commish simulating them. Is there a way to do this?

Not really. The game does allow for "hot seat" mode, but that is designed with both people physically sitting at the computer.

I've thrown out the idea of using a desktop-sharing scenario like TightVNC to allow two people to share a PC over the internet, but I don't know if anybody's ever actually tried playing a game that way or not. I see no reason why that, in theory, wouldn't work.

I have heard of an online league that progressed in real-time (one day simmed per real life day), such that managers could play given games head-to-head against each other before the rest were simmed. You'd have to search around the online forums to find the name of the league.

I have played an exhibition game in v6.5 head-to-head with a buddy from an online league using desktop sharing. Great fun, before my computer shut down for an unknown reason.

I played a couple games using remote desktop (built into XP) and it worked fine, once you got the timing down on who's turn it is to hit a key.

Of course, that's nothing that being on the phone with the other player couldn't take care of.

Hooray validation!

MetLeagues.com is the online league. Im a part of that league but yeah it uses 6.5 not 2007. Great league though. A lot of fun playing out the games yourself.
