2 questions on gameplay (player creation)

As far as creating players are concerned. I am trying to gauge how much it has changed.

1. For pitches, Can I pick which pitch is the #1 pitch on down. As in Knuckleball always was a #1. Can I make it the number #2 pitch or whatever.

2. In the past, when I created a past team for my own use, I based it mostly on stats they had recently accumulated. Say, 1927 Babe Ruth for example I would add up what he did usually from 1925-27 (+ I usually added one fantasy year of my own doing). And base it on that. I know this would tie into Contact, HR Pow, etc. but can I list the average, HRs, etc. And then let the CPU compute it? (Sorry, I just have my own little system, and am hoping not to have to change it. )

From what I understand, the actual pitches thrown is cosmetic, but the number of pitches in the repertoire is what matters. As far as creating players, the game generates the ratings, although in commissioner mode the editor allows you to change them. You can change the pitches they throw, but not the order. But, the order doesn't matter to the game AFAIK.

I guess I'd need more information on how your league would be set up. I know that in historical replays (i.e. everyone plays their real years) you can set the game to recalculate the ratings every season based on their real-life stats that year (and up to 5* years prior as well).

* I think this is right. I've been on a fictional kick when I'm not swamped with my online leagues.

I try to explain if I can.

I know in recent dynasties I have been looking at recently that they show the attributes as Contact/Gap Pow/HRPow/Eye/Avoid K (or in pitchers case STUFF/Control/Movement) but I was wondering when editing if I was able to fill in by batting avg/HRs, etc, etc. Like the old way.

I dont care if they show the new model on the player profile (in fact I like it a little better). I just wanted to do it in that way. I just feel I can make it more accurate. I might be more subjective, in the newer fashion. I'm afraid I might be a bit too bias.

I can always adapt. So it is no biggie. Just wanted to be more prepared. And the pitching thing isnt too much of an issue. It would have been nicer (but only cosmetically as you say)

You can't enter ratings by stats, but there is something similar in the editor. When you are changing a player's ratings, there is a line in the editor that shows a stat line you can expect from the player with the entered ratings (in a neutral, modern-day MLB enviroment).
