players won't go to my roster

I know this is probably so stupid but I just created a historical league and changed all the team years to the ones I wanted so I have 2006 Mets, '98 yankees etc.. I also imported historical players and added them to my team but I had to negotiate with them which I didn't want to do. I just wanted to import the players and put them right on my team. I don't want to have to deal with money matters at all. I just want my teams and I want to play. So finally, I start getting my team together and for some reason, none of my players are on my roster. I see them on one of the screens (the full team) but when I try to set my rotation and my batting order, no one is there. It's almost like they are unsigned or something although when i look at their player cards, they have contracts. Then i checked and NONE of the teams have players on the roster so my season won't start cause i get an error about can't play with no players on the roster.

All i want is to import the teams and the players and play. I don't want to be the GM, only the manager. I don't want to worry about player happiness or money. I spent 2 hours importing the teams and players, so I'm hoping there is a fix for this without me having to do that all over again.

Sorry this is so winded but I have spent hours trying to learn the game and I'm not going to give up because it looks like a cool game but it is very confusing at times.

I've had this happen for individual players. The issue with mine was, I had signed them, but it was going to be several days before they actually reported to my team. So they too showed up on my whole list, but not when I wanted to see them in the lineups. You may be getting that for all the players since you in affect are signing them to play for you.

The only way around the financial issue is to allow your AI (manager under you on the coaches screen) to handle trades and signings, and you just handle lineups. Play in Commissioner mode so you won't get fired.

But when you do that, you can't keep your AI from getting rid of guys unless you select "prevent AI roster moves". I'm not sure if that's on the GM options screen, the game setup, of the League options.
