Manger Career Track

I'm starting out in OOTP with a universe of several leagues -- full minors, college and high school feeder leagues, plus Japan (AAA equivalent, with a single-A minor league), Mexico (AA equivalent), and a couple other Central American leagues (A equivalent). Figured this would give me a good opportunity to learn the game as I worked my way up through the managing ranks.

So, I started off in Mexico and won a championship my frist year (lucky for me, the best team in the league had offered me a job my first year!). Now I've got a bunch of single-A offers from the U.S. and Japan and one AA offer from the U.S., but I'm not sure where to go next if my eventual goal is to end up in the Majors. Does it the sim like to promote from within? Does it prefer GM experience to just being a manager? Or does it just take your win-loss record and level of play?

From a future hiring perspective, is it better to be a GM in Mexico or a AA manager in America? Would it be worth taking a step down to single-A if that was what it took to get to the U.S.? If I ever get an AAA manager job offer in the U.S., should I take it or am I better off staying on as GM at a lower level in a foreign league? All things being equal, I'd rather be in a league where I'm also GM, but not if it's going to make it harder to get to the big show.

That's being unduly modest, don't you think? I mean, you had nothing to do with their success?

I can comment only on these. I have heard tales of rapid promotion within an organization as a reward for success. For example:

Promoted twice in a few days in the minors

OP thought it might be a bug, but I think the game works that way anyway sometimes.

I successfuly scouted the teams offering me jobs and correctly figured out which one had the best players.

Although, yeah, I did still have to manage them up to their ability.

Hmm, okay. I'll give more weight to the American minor league offers, then. Thanks.
