coaching staff assignments

Is there any negative ramification to assigning a coach/manager to an "unfamiliar" position? For example, if I hire someone with "normal occupation" hitting coach and assign him as a manager (or vice versa), will my team suffer any ill consequences (assuming his ratings in relevant areas are up to snuff)?

I don't think it hurts him or a player personally. As long that coach/manager is rated pretty good for that task.
For example, I often hire managers to be a hitting or pitching coach. Someome else may say different of course. Although, I've never felt it hurt.

Okay, thanks for the feedback. At least I know I'm not the only one doing it.
