Some more noob questions

Hey all

I just purchased this game (v8) and have played through spring training and am 12 games into my real life rosters game. I'm an avid Strat-O-Matic player but this seems to be right up my alley and am enjoying it!

Have some general questions that I'd really appreciate help with.

1) Play-by-play/defense: There are strange codes after some plays that I don't know what they mean. Hopefully this has something to do with the defense making a great play or something because I'd really like to know if my defenders are contributing to the outs/hits or if it was really the pitcher's doing. In real life some singles into left are no doubters where as some the best defensive SS could cut them off and make an out. Is it possible to know if my 18 defender made a hit becomie an out or vice versa? Just would like to understand what the PBP codes are trying to tell me.

2) Trading block: Do players eventually get put on the trading blcok on other teams? The AI has made many trades, I've made one myself but that was shopping a player around. I'd like to be able to see what other teams are looking for but currently I can't see any players on any trading blocks.

3) Scouting: Do I have to manage scouting at all? I'm confused as my head scout continually sends me e-mails saying this player has declined, this player is better than we thought, etc. But is there a way I can have some of my scouts off in the Dominican Republic if I so choose? Have one in my division scouting other teams? Just not sure how to manage this at all.

4) Happiness/popularity: Do any of the reports show these two items? I know I can click on a player and figure it out but if I could search the league for players who are unpopular with their franchise it would be pretty dang cool.

5) Does it help to bench a player who is on a cold streak? My two studs in the middle of the lineup (Holliday/Atkins) are 11-109 to start the season and wasnt' sure if it helps to give them days off.

Sorry for the double post y'all, I didn't realize a mod had to approve posts and thought I lost my first post.

Did a bunch of searching last night and found answers 2 and 4 but help on the others would still be awesome.

Just pre-ordered 9 anyway though, this game is pretty damn awesome.
