Career Longevity
I'm a longtime Baseball Mogul player who got bored with the game so I just started playing OOTP and I'm really impressed and enjoying it. The only issue I'm having has been with career longevity. I haven't studied it that much (I'm about 6 years into my first dynasty) so I can't tell if its how quickly players decline, or just how the computer utilizes them, but it seems that most people have pretty much maxed out by age 31-32 and after such time become bench players or middle relievers. It makes sense that they've maxed out by this age, but it seems that they shouldn't be experiencing such a precipitous decline in their skills until their mid 30s or later.
Just about every single current star I've looked into (Pujols, Cabrera, Howard, A-Rod, Santana to name a few) are no longer even playing regularly by 2010, and no players in my sim (year 2013) even have 400 career home runs, 170 pitching wins or 2500 hits. I know in BM there were sliders that could be adjusted for this kind of thing, but I wasn't sure if any existed for OOTP, and was also curious if this was a common problem for others that has an easy immediate solution |

Go to game setup > Player & Picture Options
There you can adjust development and aging for pitchers and hitters. Lower the batter aging speed to slow this decline somewhat. |
