Questions from a potential buyer

Hello everyone. I'm thinking about preordering OOTP 9, but I have a couple of questions to ask first. I've been a Baseball Mogul guy since BBM 2006 and have enjoyed it, but am looking for something that is a little more in-depth. So, the questions that I have....

1. With BBM, when you buy on-line, you are given a DL link and are allowed to DL the game multiple times, such as onto 2 different computers. Does OOTP allow multiple DLs? I'd like to have it both on my parents computer and my laptop.

2. How long(on average) does playing a game in play-by-play mode take?

3. Are salaries based on the era, like Babe Ruth not making 15 million, but what the inflation rate would be in the 1920s?

4. How realistic are historical seasons? By this I mean in terms of run production as well as team performances.

So if someone could answer these, I would be grateful. Thanks.

Welcome, EVEN11323. I have attempted to answer these with the proviso that I am not a historical player, preferring fictional leagues myself.

Yes, you can download the game as many times as you want. You can download the program once and install it many times. It's licensing it that is restricted; you get only 2 installations per license.
2. How long(on average) does playing a game in play-by-play mode take?
This can vary by your style of game playing. It could take only minutes or it could take hours depending on how much you delegate and sim. I think of myself as a moderately intense player, and for me playing out a game takes generally 15 minutes to half an hour.

See 4.

Again, I am not an historical player but I am aware of settings on the Options Page that control historical financials, player ratings by actual season performance, and total league stats that draw upon data contained in certain text files that come with the game. I can also say that there are many historical players in this community who seem to be quite pleased with OOTP 2007/8. At least, I have not read of many complaints recently.

So if someone could answer these, I would be grateful. Thanks.

Thanks 1998 Yankees. One more question I have thought of that is probably a simple one. Say I want to make an American Association league, which is only 1 league with 2 divisions. Would this be possible? I always wanted to this in BBM so I could play with the St. Paul Saints, but it wouldn't work because there were only 10 teams in the league.

I don't see why not. I used the fictional league wizard to throw this together (I edited only the Saints team name).

Again, thanks 1998. I think I'll preorder this later today and DL a demo to get used to how it works!

Great! Download the manual and view the tutorials too. Come back with any questions that you may have and I and some other folks will try to answer them.
