Editing rosters

is there a way to move a player from one to another without trading or releasing them and having the other team sign them

If you are playing as commissioner you can simply go to the particular player, go along to the editor tab and half way down the left side (depending on resolution) there will be two drop downs - one for the new league and one for the new team.
