Questions about how version 9 works
I have some questions:
1) There are many pages where the entries are not sortable. Is that the way it's supposed to be? As two quick examples, On any screen in the Transactions section all of the players are sorted by position. If you would rather sort them by (any other method), you're out of luck. Likewise the 'Explore World' screen is permanently sorted by name of nation. If you'd rather sort by number of teams or anything else, you're out of luck. 2) I have a player with a major league contract who I want to assign to my AAA team. I keep getting the message that I can't drop him from my 40 man (meaning secondary) roster. That's fine; I don't want to drop him from my secondary. Not all of the players on the secondary can be in the majors, though, and he's not ready. I'm already angry that the game put him in the majors after sending me a message saying he was waiting in the DFA zone for me to assign him someplace. Now I've had to put the guy BACK on waivers to get him where he should have been in the first place. At least, that's what the Help menu is telling me. Should I just edit his page to put him where I want him? I probably should've asked before, because I've already got him back on waivers now.

Does this player you're trying to assign to the minors have any option years left? Because if he doesn't you cannot assign him to the minors while simultaneously keeping him on the 40-man roster.

I'm managing in the Nippon Professional Baseball League, which has uses a somewhat different system. He's young (23, I think) and has several arbitration years remaining.
I just checked, and his 'time as a professional' is 1 year and 0 days, with 0 years and 0 days spent on secondary roster or on major league (in this case international league) roster. Since players in the NPBL have to put in nine years before they can go free agent, I would THINK that he still has option years remaining… HOWEVER, I see that 'enable minor league options' is unchecked in League Setup. This is a converted 2006 universe, and that WAS checked before I converted it over. Is the solution to try checking that box, or should I edit him? By the way, I do have 15 other players in the minors right now who are on the secondary roster. (And no, I'm not over the limit. In the NPBL the secondary roster size is 70.) Thank you for replying. Should I mention the other issue (pages not sorting) in Tech Support?

I finally found the answer to your question. He had three option years remaining. He has now passed through waivers and been reassigned to AAA.
