Editing Rosters

I wanted to do a complete overhaul of the ratings for the players for my organization of choice, which also would involve creating new players that the game doesn't have.

My first question-I want this edited roster set to apply to all future games I may play, not just a single dynasty. So, how can I edit all of the ratings and keep that as the default?

2nd question-Is it possible to completely create players out of the blue, or do you have to edit someone who exists and just change their name and vitals?

You have some control over player creation and editing if your are playing in Commissioner Mode (see Manager Options). Go to the bottom of your league's Free Agents screen and you will see a button to create one or more of a certain type of player.

As far as editing individual player ratings, go to the Player Profile, click the Editor tab on the right, and you will have all ratings available for edit. Again, you have to be the Commissioner.

Those were the easy answers. The tough answer is that this editing is done on a player by player basis. There is no way to save a template of ratings for your rosters, your organization, or your league. You can influence the characteristics (on average) of new players who enter your leagues by adjusting the Player Creation Modifiers in league setup, but that is league-wide, individually random, and subject to a range of variability.

Ok. Thank You.

So, let me just clarify one thing..If I think a certain pre existing player is overrated/underrated I cannot slightly tweak his ratings to make them more in line with my thinking and have that preserved each time I play a new game. I'd have to do it all over again each time?

I know if there was a Save as function, I could do it all once, save it as something.. then each time I wanted to start over I could load that and start playing, but then later save it under a different title so the original rosters would be preserved. That doesn't seem possible with OOTP like it is with Mogul. Am I correct?

You can do it. Must go to commissioner mode. Then go to the player and click the tab that says editor. Type in your new ratings and tab or enter to the next field and it's done.

Oh, I get what you are saying. Let me be clear then with two thoughts that occurred to me as I read this post. One of these should answer your question, I think.

First, you can tweak any player in this game and his new ratings will be preserved when the game is saved. This can be either done manually or is done automatically when you close the game; current files are saved at that time.

Second, you are thinking about a quickstart game when you say "save it as something.. then each time I wanted to start over I could load that and start playing." Set everything up and save it as a quickstart. You can save as many quickstarts as you want, with different names. Then, if you want to start over with the same setup, you load the quickstart game that you saved in the beginning.
