Unhappy AI Manager--resting players

Hi, first time poster, apologies if this has been asked before...

My team has clinched the division title--20 games in first place!--but the AI manager isn't resting starters even after the roster expansion (to 50 players in my league). Our star left fielder just suffered a season-ending injury, and I blame the manager! Do I have to set lineups myself to rest my starters after the team has clinched the division?

And yes, said manager is fired after the season's over...

Thanks!

Have to ask, but are your depth charts full, and set to replace starter if tired?

Once my team has clinched, I go and set the lineups and depth charts myself. I generally go so 6 man fixed order pitching staff.

If I leave starters as starters, then I use the backup every 2nd or 3rd game. Unfortunately injuries sometimes do happen. Had a CEI with one of my better hitters when he was pinch hitting.

Yeah I did the same thing Beachbum did. I went and set the starting lineups using my minor league players who were eliminated from the playoffs. Then let the computer set the depth chart for all line ups using the action button. It worked out fine. Especially one game when I was down and my minor leaguers started a rally. Then the AI subbed in my normal starters to complete the comeback. Sweet. My ace starting pitcher even came in and threw an inning of relief in a tight situation.

Tycobbler: yes to both, which is why it was a bit baffling...

I ended up doing something similar to BeachBum and TrueKingPK, and all went well last season. Thanks!

This might be a question for another thread, but are players "injury prone" as they often are in the big leagues? If so, is there any way to get an indication of this from any of the player reports? (I had a brand new $5mil free agent signing go down for the season; would love to have any info ahead of time that might prevent this in the future.)
