train player for new position?

Is there a way to train a player for a new position? My minor league system is overflowing with outfielders and I'd like to move some of them to the infield. Is it as simple as changing their position in the player profile section?

Just having them play a new position builds experience at that position. The more they play at a certain position, the better they will get. It takes some players longer than others to develop substantial skill at new positions so you may want to experiment.

Also, it's better that you try to have them learn a position either in the minors (which you said you're dealing with minor league players anyways) or in spring training - it helps make the process go much faster!

Just keep in mind the defensive spectrum - don't try to convert right fielders to middle infielders!

Hi,
I want to add that the game seems to have a disconnect between outfielders and infielders. Sometimes, no matter how much experience the player gets he won't have a rating at the new position. There is a minimum rating at range, error, arm and double play that a player needs to get a rating at a certain position and I'm still not exactly sure what it is. I'd suggest to go into Commissioner mode and edit your outfielder so that he has a 45 (out of 250) in infielder range, error, arm and double play. I think that will do it.

good luck,
Frank
