Overall Rating vs. Position Rating

My question concerns two pitchers on my team, both starters.

Player A has an overall rating of "2" with a potential of "5" and has a position/pitcher rating of "7."

Player B has an overall rating of "1" with a potential of "1.5" and has a position/pitcher rating of "19."

If I want someone pitching on my team it seems as though I would want the guy with the "19" pitcher rating rather than the "7" rating. So, why does player A have the higher overall/potential rating yet doesn't seem to be nearly as good of a pitcher.

Puzzled.

By position rating, I assume you mean their defensive rating. For a pitcher, don't even bother paying attention to that when it comes to deciding who to put on your roster.

What Kelric says. In real life some pitchers are very bad fielders. You should not consider defensive ability for pitchers unless you have identical pitching ratings/potential in different prospects. Defensive rating and perhaps bunting ratings could then be used to break the tie. I'd keep both.

Thanks guys. I see now that it does say "defensive" rating. I'm sorry I missed that before.

I'm a noob to the game (and to baseball, really) but I'm having fun.

I appreciate you taking the time to help me.

Welcome!

Keep the questions coming. I may just learn something also.
