Fictional League History

I hate using known players so I wonder if it would be possible to start a fictional league and then simulate, say, 3 or 4 or 5 seasons to get some history on the players and then begin your tenure as a manager? The simulation would be without any human manager/management at all...all the teams would be run by the AI.

It would be fun to me to let the game sim for a certain number of seasons, then pick the worst team, take on the management duties, and then start playing.

It seems as though that would be very entertaining.

Perfectly possible and incredibly easy. Just start your league, sim your seasons, then go to your Manager screen and find the team you want to take over.

This is the best way to start off a fictional league. You may want to consider as much as 10-15 seasons.

I'll offer this tip since it happened to me. Check that major and minor league rosters are full before simming. Then maybe check every other year. In the early years of my league, the White Sox had a short roster and a couple of pitchers had records like 14W 56L and the like.

Good luck.

Okay. I think I figured out how to do that.

I've got it running. But it stops occasionally and asks me if I want a job?

I don't want it to stop. I don't want a job until after two or three years or so.

Any way I can keep it from asking me if I want a job?

Wow. 15 seasons. That would be nice.

If I can figure out how to get the sim to run continuously, I might try something like that.

Thanks.

Try playing in Commissioner mode, see if that stops it.

Even in this setting you have a Manager Home Page and a Manager Options screen. Uncheck the stop auto-play for personal messages.

Thanks guys. Sorry. I just don't have much experience right now running the sim.

I'll look for those things and give that a try. It sounds great.

Sometimes you just gotta start clicking buttons, but don't hesitate to come here and ask.

Sorry, should have said that option is on the Manager Options screen, lower left hand corner with other mail options.

Thanks, I found it. But it took quite a bit of searching.

I figured out how to get the sim to play a few years then I took the last place team (54-108 record).

I began on January 1st. So far, I made it to January 2nd. LMAO. It takes me a long time to do anything. Lots of fun though.

Although this game has a steep learning curve (I'm learning baseball too), I suspect things will begin to move along at a faster pace...otherwise it will really take me 10 years to play 10 seasons.

No problem, you'll finish a season just in time to purchase the next version. That's the way it used to go for me. Now I usually don't even get that season finished.
