Base Stealing question

I tried searching for the answers to these but I couldn't find anything.

What controls whether or not an attempted steal of a base is succesfull? I have a CF who is rated at a 94 in speed and 87 in stealing, and in the last game I played he was caught steeling twice against a catcher with an arm rating of 38. So I am guessing that there is some other number that I should be looking at in deciding to attempt to steal but I cant figure out what it is.

Could someone let me know?

Thanks

James

Check the pitcher's rating for "holding the runners".

Yep, hold rating is key. Also you don't know if the AI is "holding" the runner, like the human player can do.

Also consider run and hit. I use that more often than straight steal.

I know what a H&R is, but what's Run & Hit?
How are they different?

Run & Hit is when the player takes off and the batter has the choice of trying to swing.

Thanks,

I hadn't even thought about the hold runners.
