How do I substitute for my pitcher?

I cannot seem to figure it out: how do I send in a reliever in-game?

Go to your team's substitution tab (ex: Detroit Substitutions) - it's on top of your screen next to BNN Broadcast, BNN Webcast, etc.

From the substitutions page, on the lower right you'll see your current pitcher, and under him two empty slots. Above them you'll see your current roster, with players already in the game marked in red.

If necessary, change the position filter to "Position: All Pitchers" (if you're making a pitching change.)

If you have the warmup option in your game, first you want to move your reliever(s) to one of the two spots below your starter. This is your bullpen and they'll begin warming up.

When you want them to come in the game, just move them onto/over your current pitcher.

Just FYI, pinch hitting/running/defensive subs works the same way: Find your replacement on the roster, then drag him onto the person he's replacing. If necessary, change his position with the drop down to the right of his name on the lineup card.

Good luck!

Hmm.. when I dragged the pitchers onto the current pitcher, it wouldn't change. I'll try again. Thanks!

Go to the Options tab on top and make sure that you - and not Computer AI or a fictional manager - are in charge of making substitutions.

When I play without the DH, I drop the new pitcher into the lineup on the left.

If making a double-switch, I first change the positions of the players leaving the game to "-" and then drop the new players in, and then select the appropriate position.

It may be the demo

I had trouble with demo substitutions, too, in exhibition games. Season games seem to work okay.

i have this same problem. I have my user selected in the "Substitutions" game option, but when i go to make any substitutions in-game, it won't allow them. It works fine in season play, but doesn't work in exhibition.

*edit* this is a bug in v9, but seems to be fixed in v10
