Development: one rating lagging behind?
If a player has reached his potential in every rating except one, is that a sign that they won't ever reach that potential rating?
In other words, consider two early 20's pitchers, each with 60/60/60 potential ratings. One has a current ability of 50/50/50 and the other has a current ability of 60/60/30. Does the 60/60/30 have less of a chance of fully developing up to the potential? |

My completely uninformed opinion is that I would say yes. I don't trust guys who haven't rounded out all of their ratings. This may not be fact, but it seems to me that a guy who doesn't develop fully at around the same time is more likely to never develop.

Well, I always thought even OOTP9 did a good job of modeling real pitcher development in that way, i.e. the control comes last.
I assume that's the case with OOTPX as well. |

It is true that things do develop at different times, as well as fall off at different times. I would say that never really count out something moving up, but at the same time never count on something staying the same...
does that make it easy for you.The short answer is that I would say that a guy that looks like your example is probably never going to reach the full POT in that category, but that not all players will develop in the same way, ever! That is the beauty of this game, it is not computer-ish in that way. Think of things in a much more organic way! |
