Unwanted fictional players in historical league

I've been playing this for too long not to figure out the problem, but I don't seem to be able to keep fictional players out of my league for some reason.

I started with 1954, using Gambo's most recent DB.

I auto-ran until 1960. I created a GM in October and set him up to run the Washington Senators. Now I'm ready for the expansion draft.

I look in the free agent list and there are just dozens of faux players. None of them have ML experience nor can they reach the majors, which is good. However, they not only clutter up the FA wire, they provide tasty options for the AI run expansion Angels, who seem inclined to want to pick up Joe Unknown's at every reasonable opportunity, including round 1.

What in my set up did I do wrong to enable the invasion of these fictional ballplayers? Is there any (relatively easy) way to flush all of them out of my existing league?

Dola,

As an additional note, I've started leagues like this 4-5 times now without seeing this fictional onslaught. Not sure what I checked/unchecked, even after about an hour of search...

Ghost Players box was clicked on when the league was created, and is still on.

I'm anxious to figure this out, as I've now misfired 3 straight times so have delayed any further OOTP activity until I can get this sorted out.

Joe Unknown is the name of the ghost player(s). If you play with ghosts, you get Joes.
