minor league players
do i have to move all potentially great minor league players to my 40-man to prevent risk losing them?
I just went through the draft, but surely i can safely leave them in the minors for a while, without having to put them in my 40-man, no? Im not completely sure about how this minor league works, but Id hate to lose soom future greats |

If you're playing with default MLB settings, you can leave them off the 40-man IF...
They were 19 or older when they signed and have been under contract for less than three years. OR They were 18 or younger when they signed and have been under contract for less than four years. I assume OOTP differentiates between the 18 and 19 YO signees, but I've never paid too much attention. The easiest way to figure out if a player needs to go onto your 40-man is if he has the # symbol next to his name. If he does, he is eligible for the Rule V Draft and needs to be on the 40-man before then. If not, he's safe. Just remember that all minor leaguers are eligible for FA after six years in the minors.
