Fan Loyalty

Does anyone understand how this work?
What effects it, what lowers it, what raises it, etc. ?
How does it relate to Fan Interest?
Is there a season ticket sales component?
Does the game do a PSL type capital generation gimmic?

I ask because in my online league mine is low. I think it is appropriate. My team had a looooong run of ineptitude, then made the playoffs 4 years in a row but had a LOT of roster turnover then was dismantled.
Loyalty is "Below Average".
Another team has not made the playoffs in 13 years and has only finished 2nd in their division once in that time frame has a "Great" fan loyalty.
Is there a Bengals clause in the loyalty?

Thanks.

Here's my take on it. Someone else may have a more authoritative answer. I think fan loyalty is simply a characteristic of a given city, like market size. It doesn't change. In both cases -- market size and fan loyalty -- there is no guarantee that these will resemble what you see in real life, unless and until they been modified after game creation by someone acting as commissioner. You have to be somewhat careful about it, however, if you do make modifications to those (the AI may do strange things if the financial drivers are changed a lot in one season).

Fan interest obviously does go up and down, as a result of a team's performance, what happens with popular players, etc. I think fan loyalty influences how much fan interest can change as a result of events. For example, if fan loyalty is high, fan interest won't drop that much if the team is doing badly.

The combination of market size and fan interest are what produces the ultimate revenue for a team each year, through media contract size, ticket sales and merchandise sales.

Season tickets are not a factor in OOTP. Don't know anything about the other, but it seems safe to say that the answer is no.

Fan Loyalty does change. After winning the WS, I received and email from the owner saying fan loyalty had increased to Very Good. Which looks like around 90% on the bar.

It is market size that does not change unless you edit it.

Fan loyalty does change with some players that leave or resign a contract or retire and so forth.

I can only find 3-4 sentences about this in the manual. Does anyone else know more about how it functions?
I'm not looking for exploits or anything. Just a better understanding of what determines it.

Fan Loyalty has an impact on how high you can raise your ticket prices. The more loyal, the more willing they are to swallow increases.

At least my few tests of ticket price increases have lead me to believe that.

So if you are selling out, you can boost ticket prices more if fans are loyal.

I've seen that happen too. The Cincinnati fan base was demoralized at the loss of Johnny Gomes, but came back when Jarald Saltimbacchia (sp?) took over behind the plate.

I kinda like that sort of stuff.

I recently traded a 33 year old star SS for a 23 year odl future All-Star Outfielder. It was a great trade for my team. Unfortunately, the SS was "Very Popular" and I took a 10% hit in my Fan Interest.
