A ball players to spring training?

what is the lowest level players you send to spring training? in a historical league i have to guys that are A ball level. first of league so no history. both are singles double hitters.

player A is 21 current ratings (contact gap avoid k) 4/3/2 potential 7/6/9
walks and hr are at max potential of 4 and 2

player b is 20 currents are 4/6/5 potential 6/6/10 walks and hr are at potential as well.

would you invite to spring training or will they overwhelmed?

Take my reply with a grain if salt. I am new to the game and baseball in general.

I thought I read somewhere that minor league players could be brought up for spring training and as long as they were sent back to their minor club before opening day there were no consequences.

However, I now find that I can not just remove them from the 40 man roster. They must go through waivers first. If I had known that, I would probably not have brought up any of them.

I brought up several and they were all players with huge potential, and would certainly be claimed since they would cost the claiming team nothing on a minor league contract.

So now they will all jam up my 40 man roster all season and only one of them will be playing.

As for when to bring em up, I have no idea. Mine all had good defensive skills, but poor batting. They all did fine on defense. One of them blossomed and is a hitting leader. The others need a LOT more batting practice. :-)

I think this is a case where it would be fair to turn off waivers long enough to correct the situation. Just give yourself a one-time pass and don't do it again.

hehe - that would be tempting if I needed to.

but, since my post, I have found that I am nowhere near to filling my 40 man roster, even with the inclusion of the nere-do-well minor leaguers on there.

first season (rebuild) and i have let a lot of the pricey talent explore more 'enlightened' horizons.

so - those rookies ain't so bad afta all.

To avoid the waiver hassle, you need to send to the minor leaguers back to the bushes on the day of the final game of spring training. That way they don't use up an option year, either.

So play the last game of Spring Training, send the players down, then hit the 'Sim to the begging of the regular season' button, and you're good to go.

I thought I read something like that somewhere, but didn't recall all the intricacies of exactly how to accomplish that, so when I tried to send em back maybe two weeks before the end of Spring Training when it became apparent they were not ready, I hit the waiver wall.

That sounds kinda silly tho, right? I mean if ya send em on exactly the right day it's all good, but otherwise they are going to the dastardly Orioles!

Is that how it works IRL? I would think not.
