Considering OOTP - Can I do a historical replay?

I want to replay the Minnesota Twins during the Killebrew years. I want to use historical rosters, and actual day by day line ups. No free agents, salry issues, etc. Is OOTP the game I want for this project? (I am really tried of Strat!)

Absolutely.

You can pick whatever year you want to start with and turn free agency off.

By day to day lineups, do you mean just for the Twins or for the entire MLB? The former is easy to do, but the MLB is a little harder. Regardless, you can prevent AI adjustments to rosters and just handle EVERYTHING yourself.

I'm playing the 1964 Cleveland Indians. Played at the Twins just a few days ago. Killebrew went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs.

Sounds good to me. I did a 1965 AL pennant year replay using Strat and the "as played" files. The Indians and Twins tied for first place, and the Twins won the playoff game. The playoff game changed the rotation for the World Series, but the Dodgers prevailed.

The reason to move towards OOTP is Don Mincher led the league with 31 dingers and Earl Battey lead in batting, around .320. Never would of happened in real life.

How do I play as the 2007 Braves before we traded away an entire chunk of our farm system for Mark Teixeira?

to do so, click 'new custom game'. then, click 'create historical league'. you will have to select the path to the database, which would be 'historical_database.odb'. select the season year, set the settings as you like (defaults are fine IMO), change the teams if needed, set the minor league systems, change the settings as you want again (make sure the top option is checked if you want accurate results), set more settings to your liking, and create your manager.

Just a note: according to Bill James' "Win Shares" book, the 1964 Indians were the most-balanced team of all time, top to bottom. Not a great team by any means, but all of your players can play a little. Have fun.

the same happens with this game

Roto

You will find some of the same issues with stats with this game .The game has a lot to offer but it is statistically off as it comes to individual stats

I just finished replaying the 1961 season managing the Yankees. The Yanks beat out the Twins to win the AL crown by 1 game. The Yanks beat the Reds in the World Series 4 games to 3. It was a very exciting series to manage and I am getting ready to start the 1962 season. One interesting note Roger Maris only hit 33 homers in my season. Mickey Mantle lead the AL with 46 round trippers.

If you want individuals to repeat their RL stats then OOTP probably isn't for you, but if you want to be able to take charge of your favourite team for a couple of decades or even more then you've found the right game. The great players will still be great and the crappy ones will still be crappy (depending on your custom settings), but player X isn't going to hit .316 like he did in year Y. Bit of a steep learning curve, but well worth it. Strat's my first game too and if they're anything like they used to be when I left, their problem is in customer service, specifically the folks with attitude who man their customer service telephone lines, which it appears you have to pay $1.99 per minute for now. What's the number for that 1-888-KICK-ME1? Strat boys, you used to be the only game in town, but it's been a long time since 46 Railroad Plaza, Glen Head, New York was the centre of the baseball sim universe. They may still have the numbers, but they've been kinda left in the dust, since the advent of the career sim and I always thought Diamond-Mind beat them at their own game anyway.
