Extreme Injuries

Hi all, just got game couple weeks ago, my 1st OOTP (played ootp9 demo prior only experience).

Playing 95 Braves, with low injury setting, and I have lost 7 players (starters/everyday players) in 4 months out for the year, including Glavine (who was never on the DL until 2008), Smoltz, Justice, Grissom, and McMichaels. No other team has had as many injuries. Is this just a case of bad luck or is the "human" player generally forced to work harder via injuries?

Thanks

PS thanks already to PadreFan site, using the logos and parks already

Bad luck.

The game doesn't know names either. That's why Glavine is hurt despite never going on the DL.

The 2nd post was originally "does anyone know where to find and edit injury files"

Answer is yes, its the injury.txt within the data file, a utility on PadresFan site for ootp7 was close enough that I figured it out.

Just finished up my 1st season, missed playoffs by 2 games, finished with 5 starting position players, 2 starters, and 2 setup pitchers on DL, WAY too high in my humble opinion for the LOW injury setting. Thus I am currently editing my injury.txt, cutting out a ton of frequency 5 long term injuries, and inserting several day-2-day type injuries in place. Should still force plenty of bench play (which I like) without totally crippling a team.

I am not sure this is going to work. I believe I have read on this forum that the game determines the injury length first, and then looks for a diagnosis that fits the predetermined duration. These means that if you cut out several long term injuries, all you are doing is increasing the occurence of the ones you did not cut.

Similarly, if you add a bunch of 2-day injuries, you just increase the options that the game can choose from when a 2-day injury occurs. You will not change the frequency of long term injuries.

Can someone confirm if I am right about this. I am going strictly from vague memories of the long "More Realistic Injury File" thread and might be wrong.

2 test runs of full years ran pretty close to exactly what I was looking for
