First Game

I am a total newbie to this awesome game... My first experience ever was Micro League Baseball on the Apple II.

I just started a season with the SF Giant's. I decided to play an exhibition game between the Oakland A's and the SF Giant's...

1) I was surprised that since it was 3 days prior to the first season game that my players would actually get tired... I thought the exhibition match was "just for fun"

2) The starting pitcher in the exhibition game for the Giant's played the entire game... Was this because I initially started the game as play calling... I subsequently hit a button which fast forwarded the game I believe an entire inning at a time... I am assuming I needed to warm up a pitcher and actually remove my starting pitcher etc... (I assumed the game would do this for me since I shifted from play calling to clicking the fast forward button etc...)

3) If I choose to not play as "play by play"... Do I need to do anything so that my middle relievers and closers actually come in the game etc... Or will the CPU manager make these adjustments for me if I am not in the "play by play" mode??

Thanks for any comments...

1. You can turn off player fatigue in game setup.

2. If you start a game with yourself running the team, then you have to make the substitutions.

3. If you just quick sim (not do play by play) the AI will manage your team and make substitutions as it deems necessary. (Note, sometimes the AI doesn't do a great job, but usually it's pretty good)

When you go to play out a game, there are some options at the beginning as to what you control and what the AI can control.

You can also get to the options during a game, so if you wanted to snooze while your managers played out the games, click on the options tab and then there are a set of differing levels of control you can give to the AI. I know that I've done this in commish mode, can't see why it wouldn't be available otherwise also.
