Salary Extentions
I have a player that has 8.3(A) for next season, getting 7.0 this season. Now if I offer an extension starting for next season, is that 8.3(a) already included ??? The player wants 12,230,000 but I only have 7,887,400. But since 8.3(a) is listed is that what I am going to pay him no matter what and just offer an extension the following season ???

extensions
I believe if you sign him to a contract you avoid arbitration and pay him the agreed. If you offer him arbitration he will get paid somewhere between what you offer him and the 12+ million he is asking for. If you don't offer him arbitration then they become free agents.

The 8.3(A) is just an estimate of what he might earn in arbitration next season. If you sign him to an extension, the 8.3(A) will go away and it will reflect your extension instead. The arbitration estimates just help you plan your finances in the future.
So the answer is no, the 8.3(A) is not part of his contract and you will not pay him that.

Well thats what I am trying to figure. Since 8.3 is already in my budget and I only have 7m to spend on extensions and he wants 12m, of that 7m I only spend 4m since 8.3 is already accounted for ???

8.3 isn't accounted for yet, since it's not until next season that he will recieve that, and he may not recieve that anyway. His performance could cause him to make mre or less, or you could not offer arbitration and then he becomes a free agent

the 8.3(a) seems to be accounted for in my team salary. When I add up next seasons payrolls, its included.
I am still trying to figure out this financial part of this game.

In this case, it should allow you to offer 8.3+7M or up to 15m. Say you signed him to a 6M extension, then since the 8.3 estimate is no longer considered, you will actually then have 9M to sign other players. |
