Waiver Question

I am near the end of Spring Training and demoting players from my active roster to AAA (since my entire 40 man roster was added to my active roster at the beginning of ST). I have a few players who are out of options and therefore need to clear waivers.

I placed them on waivers and then tried to demote them to AAA, but OOTP tells me that they need to clear waivers 1st. What will happen with these players at the end of Spring Training, since they will not have cleared waivers by then? Currently, they are listed as being on waivers as well as being on my active roster and I am not able to demote them to AAA. Is this a problem?

Thanks.

It takes a few days to clear waivers, once they do you can move them to AAA unless of course they refuse assignment... if so then you will have to decide to put them back on your ML roster, trade them or release them.

Most players simply go to the minors, but the odd one has the right to refuse demotion.

TO get them off of the active roster you need to Wive them and Designate for Assignment. This puts them in a sort of holding pattern until they clear waivers, but don't take up a roster spot.

Will Waive and DFA take them off of my 40 man roster? I only want to demote them to AAA, not take them off of my 40 man.

Thanks.

Oh, yeah I believe that will take them off your 40 man. You could always re-add them after/if they clear. Or, send someone else down for the first game or two, and recall them once the player clears waivers.
