Post Presim years before playing a fictional league?

When starting a fictional league do a lot of people on here say presim like 10 years to get some history in their league before playing or do you just start playing?

The vast majority establish a history for more than one reason. Personally, I play right from day one after a few adjustments, I erase all player service times and histories for the league and the players, and start with a completely clean slate.

simmed history

I don't care for simmed history- but it a persons preference. I agree with endgame. I like to wipe out service time and stats and have every one start with a clean slate.

The only issue I have with that is you don't have FA classes for the first X amount of years, right? Then all of a sudden you have a rush of players hitting FA that aren't extended in the last year?

That's why I never did it.

All modifiable to personal tastes.

I won't hijack the OP's original inquiry, but one thing certain about a 'Clean Slate' league is that every bit of history is yours.

I do exactly that. As Endgame says it is a personal preference.

I use it to smooth out league totals variations and to set and league totals modifiers, especially in the minors. I might tweak some of the PC modifiers and the dev and aging modifiers.

You can see from the variety of responses that there is no definitive "right" way.

I know there is now definitive way, but I was just curious, I'm getting ready to start a fictional league and am looking for ways to conduct it.

Well, that was the really the point of your original question, wasn't it? The answer, thus far, have been sim ahead X number of years to create league history, then take over a team; start your league, clear all history so you start from scratch with a clean slate; start your league with its built-in career stats and/or history intact, take over a team; finally, about anything in-between.

I'd suggest, if you're looking for ideas from what, who, where, how, it all should evolve, that you do a search using Fictional League Ideas, or Fictional League History, Fictional League Creation, even Fictional League by itself, but that will yield about 10,000 threads. As you narrow your field of interest or subject area with regard to the creation, narrow your search field and you'll be surprised with the inspiration and guidance you'll uncover, even in prior versions.

As usual, if you run into additional questions, and you will, post in a new thread and we'll try to give you our best shot at coming to terms with the decisions that, ultimately, you have to make. Good luck with your creation.

For example I like the simmed history because it gives me set records. By co-incidence one of my leagues had 59HR as the single season record. It was very cool to see the first guy past 60HR.

I sim 20 years to generate history and give the players as part of the inaugural draft a chance to retire.

besides my dynasties, I only have 1 solo league that i play (and another league that I use for a WBC for it) and I simmed 100 years ahead. It's great that the league has so much history and that I got to revive an old powerhouse to top status.

I sim 30 years before I start. I want all of the initially generated players out of the system, so that my league starts with 100% developed/aged players. The initially generated players don't reflect my game settings and mess up the game until they are drained out completely.
