Waiver Wire Trouble

Hello, just bought the game and am running my first season. I've been having some trouble with the waiver wire. I set it to 10 days. But now, I will place a bid on a player, the waiver period will expire, but instead of my getting said player, the original team will release the player and another AI team will sign him to a minor league contract. Without the player showing up on the Free Agent screen. Do I have some setting wrong?

Make sure the Designated for Assignment time is as long or longer than the waiver time.

What probably is happening is the DFA time runs out before waiver time does and the team has to release them since they have not cleared waivers yet.
