Question about trading

I'm brand new to the game and I'm trying to update my roster. (as best I can anyway) Trying to re create the trades exactly as they happened in real life but the opposing teams aren't biting. Is there some way to override this or am I doomed to have Jordan Schafer and his 40% K rate patrolling CF all year? Thanks.

Go to your manager page and turn on Commissioner Mode.

Now, when you go to the trade screen, you should see a button that says "Force Trade."
