ML players in a custom league

There must be a simple way to create a league with fictitious teams, and real ML players. I just can't find it. Can anyone help? Thx in advance.

No I don't think there is any simple way.
Couple of ways I can think of....but they are quite long-winded.

Actually, I went back on this forum, and found that bgeno gave an excellent explanation of exactly how to do this on 7-22-09. It took him all of 15-or-so lines, and it was clear and concise. I'm going to put in a good word for him with Santa.

1. "Start a new 2009 Major League Game"
2. Let it do it's thing with loading... it will seem like you're missing out on your chance to set up an inaugural draft, but you'll get to it, so don't worry
3. Assign yourself to whatever team you want afterward
4. Once the game actually loads up, go to "Game" tab at the top and click "Game Setup"
5. Go to "League Setup" at the far right of the "Functions" tab
6. One of the top options is "Release all players and schedule inaugural draft," click that
7. Now you're set to do the inaugural draft

If you want, you can also mess around with the league structure a bit. I'm personally about to do a 10-team league in this fashion. Just go to "Edit League Structure" in that same "Functions" tab under "League Setup" and you can add, delete, and move teams.

Yes, this works. I tried it last night with great success. However, while I can add, delete, and move teams around, I don't seem to be able to rename them. A minor point, all things considered, but a little annoying. I tried "saving" the game with changes to team names, but names reverted just before.

Do not rename teams in "Edit League Structure". Do it from the "Names & Affiliations" tab in league setup.
