Spring Training - effects of disabling it?
What are the effects of disabling spring training?
Does the game still work out the rest and players at new positions gain experience, etc? Thanks, SoCal Doug And, I dread to ask this one... gulp... do you still get to deal with waivers for the guys with no options ending up in the minors? if you don't like all the 40-man roster players being pushed up to the Active Roster, there is a league setting called "Expanded Roster Size"..... you can set this to 25 and still have Spring Training

I finally was able to do an experiment and disabled spring training.
The effect? There were no messages or reports about anything, it seems that you do truly skip Spring Training. the challenge then is whether that means that everyone starts the season with no rust and they will have to get over this during the first part of the season or if the rust part of the season is skipped. Unfortunately, I did not get to see if anyone's stats may have changed at all and if someone with a new position would have improved. So of this part I do not know. SoCal Doug |

I've never tested this, but after years of skipping ST I have a few guesses...
Defensively, they won't improve at a new position since they have never had the chance to play there. Offensively, I can't say I've noticed much of a rust problem. If it existed the whole league would be rusty and I would think it might balance out anyways.

I believe the "rust" factor does not exist if ST is disabled. I'm pretty sure Markus himself has said this on the forums.
But yeah - your biggest loss is not being able to gain position experience quite as fast. That can be significant. |
