spring training roster issue
I dont' want the spring training roster to be automatically expanded, so I have alternatively tried setting the roster expand size to 25, and disabling roster expansion altogether. In both cases it still pushes my whole 40 man roster up for spring training.... resulting in 37/25 roster spots filled. Then I have to deal w/ re-demoting everyone and dealing with all the issues there. How can i prevent this from happening w/out disabling spring training altogether?

Just in case you weren't aware, the way OOTP used to handle spring training rosters was actually incorrect. In the real world, all 40 players on the 40-man roster are automatically part of a major league club's spring training roster. Then, during spring training, the roster is gradually reduced to the 25 players for opening day by optioning players to the minors (as well as sometimes outrighting or releasing players).

Remember, roster expansion simply means that, as of the date you specify (Sept. 1 by default) up to the end of the regular season, the active roster limit is now the same size as the secondary roster limit. That means, using the default values, the active roster size increases from 25 to 40 from Sept. 1st through to the close of the regular season. In simple terms, roster expansion simply allows for more players from your 40-man to be used in games by the club. You could achieve the same thing manually by changing the active roster limit setting on Sept. 1st. The roster expansion option allows this to happen automatically.

I have this same issue where I don't like the automatic promotion of secondary roster players to the active roster in spring training. The main problem that it causes is if you have someone that is out of minor league options and they get automatically put on your spring training roster, then you have to waive them at the end of spring training if you don't keep them on your active roster. Perhaps that is realistic though?
