Projected Budget Room
Hi,
I am currently in the off-season of my 2nd year, and I'm 13.5 million over budget for my player salaries. My question is this. Do I need to start dumping contracts, making trades, etc, in order to get back under budget? What will happen when the season starts if I'm over budget? Can I be like Washington D.C., and have a budget deficit? If not, I guess I'd better make deals now during the winter meetings, than having to do it the day before the season starts. Thanks in advance for your help. I've finished last 2 years in a row and obviously have a lot to learn! |

First you need to look at your finances screen, check"$ for Free Agents", next seasons "Projected Payroll", "$ for Extensions" and "Projected Final Balance", it matters if you are over or under budget. Unless you project enough profit next season to cover the difference. I started this season $60k in the hole. I was $13 Mil. over budget. I am currently 143 games into the season and 74 home games in, I project to be $4.5 mil in the red. That has been trending down all year from $8ish mil. I don't understand how the game comes up with budgets and financial projections but I would assume it has to do with projected attendance combined with other revenue streams. If you think you have a real chance of winning the division and making a trong playoff run then you may be ok. If not then you need to move money.
