Scouts/Coaches DISABLED - Pros & Cons

I've joined a league that is just gettting off the ground. We're trying to lock in rules and one of the ones that seems to have the group split involves the scouts/coaches being activated or not.

It looks like most leagues (as well as the previous two leagues I've been in) leave it disabled. Can anyone list some of the positives and negatives to having them enabled and/or disabled? Thanks.

This perspective is only 9 seasons into the game. I have never, and probably will never, played a solo league.
I play in a capped, 20 team league with scouts and coaches off. Having no experience with scouts or coaches I can only speak from this perspective.
With them off, the effects of injury, personalities and the development engine, I think the "Fog of War" is thick enough. I recently burned my organization to the ground and completely rebuilt. Due to injury I have had 5-6 65+ potential players, position and pitchers, reduced 10-55 potential points. From completely being crushed to losing individual ratings and then turning around after the injury and recieving talent increases. In addition, the players who project really well and avoid the meat grinder do not always fulfill their potential. I have a few on my squad now. They just will not perform. In the midst of this I have also had players develop out of nowhere, a few talent boosts in a row can often turn a carrer A-ball player into an All-Star.
In the end I want a game. I do not want something that completely mirrors real life.
These are our league settings.

Player Ratings- 1 to 100
Player Potential Ratings- 1 to 10
Other Player Ratings- 1 to 100
Show Ratings Over Max- Enabled
Overall/Potential Ratings- 20-80 scale, based on all players, not positions
Injuries: Enabled, Average frequency
Position Player Fatigue: Average

Player Personalities: On

Good luck. This game is a blast. Online play is the greatest feature.

Beavis, I am in a league with similar settings excepting the scouting. OOTP X is my first foray into OOTP, so I do not know of past problems with scouting. However, I would recommend any new league to use scouting as it adds so much to the game.

The different views of players is amazing. You can see a guy your scout adores while the OSA thinks is marginally good. Get a third opinion from a "friendly" GM. Perhaps his scout agree with yours or perhaps it doesn't. Or maybe you just accidentally alerted him to a new diamond-in-the-rough.

exactly. you may find a guy on someones team that your scout really really likes, like blue potential across the board, but the other teams scout doesn care much for him at all. you could land him very cheap in a deal. however , obv one of those scouts has to be wrong

A situation just came up like that. Someone just took on a huge salary on a waived player. My scout all but said, "Hall of Fame Lock!!!!!" while, apparently, the original owner's guy didn't think so much. OSA indicated his skills were decent but not for that price.

In his seven games with his new team, he is 11-for-24 with a home run.

Apparently, though, scouting was a super pain-in-the-ass in previous versions, right?
