GM vs. Manager

I have noticed that when you're unemployed and looking at the Job Openings screen, sometimes teams will have a button 'Apply as Manager' and some will have 'Apply as General Manager'.

Does anyone know what the difference is within the game? I know the real-life difference between a GM and Manager... does the game actually let you play them separately - playing GM-only or Manager-only?

Thanks!

All I can say is I am the gm of the Pirates but I set all of the manager functions to the manager, like lineups, calling players up from the minors.

I basically just try to sign free agents and offer or renew contracts, along with making trades and have the manager do everything else.

There is a difference. If you apply as manager, you will have the limitations similar to a real life manager, and if you apply as general manager, you will have the same options a real life general manager would have.

Hmmm......

I think that GM positions are always the top tier league (MLB) and Manager positions are in the minors.

GM positions are also in feeder leagues.
