Question Pitcher Fatique Over the Course of a Season

Does the game engine contain anything that reflects a greater level of fatigue or injury tendency for an "overused" pitcher over the course of a season?

Here are two instances I'm seeing in my historical league:
1) Starting Pitchers pushing 90-100 innings halfway through June.
2) Relief Pitchers with only 1-3 stamina pushing close to the same halfway through June.

Granted this is 1980 so pitch counts are a twinkle in people's eyes, but is there an effect?
Also, will the relief pitchers start getting more fatigued and injured or will the engine bump up their stamina as if they are starting to build it up?

Here are some thoughts based on what I believe to be true:

1. OOTP does not try to model what happens in RL with players starting a season strong and well-rested, and gradually becoming more fatigued as the season progresses. What it does instead is "average it out", as it were.

2. Any player who plays in a game while being "Tired" or "Exhausted" has a higher risk of being injured.

3. Any player who plays with a DtD injury risks getting a worse injury. Any player who has been injured before has a high risk of being injured again.

4. Any player who plays a lot during a season runs a greater risk of injury simply by having that many more opportunities to a get a "bad roll of the dice" as it were.

Anyway, I hope that gives you some guidance.

This is something of an unanswered question for me as well. It's not clear to me yet that the player development model includes stamina. However, some very knowledgeable people have discussed this, so maybe one of them will weigh in on this thread at some point.

So how do you ensure a player with a DtD injury doesn't play? I guess I assumed they wouldn't play until they no longer had the DtD injury. Am I wrong?

Depends upon how you play the game. If you are letting the AI control things and just simming thru the season, there is pretty good chance the AI will play someone who has a DtD injury, especially if he's a star on the team. Note that there is a place on the Manager Option screen, where you can have a sim stopped if one of your players has a DtD injury of a given severity. Just as in RL, a mild injury may carry no significant risk other than to the player's performance in that game. Basically, the AI is doing the same sort of risk-assessment as you would do, except that the AI might not make the same decisions as you.

The game is simmed by a commissioner in 7-day increments. Obviously that means I don't have that level of control, but only week-to-week control and guidance of my team.

For 7-day sims, I use the 7-day lineups function. That would allow you to sit a player that has a dtd injury as long as you know about it. However, if you have a player suffer a dtd injury during a 7-day sim, the AI generally plays that player anyway. Maybe there is an option within the 7-day lineup setup that allows you to control that?
