Merging Leagues

Hi there, I'm playing in a solo league. What I'm trying to do is setup a merged league - League A and League B merge into League C. Every time I do it the game crashes at the start of the new season. Is anyone able to tell me how to merge leagues?

I'm not even sure if it can be done. What steps have you taken so far?

It can be done. I've done it but darned if I can remember how..It has to do with saving as templates and then importing them back into your league. Try here as this might help you.

Okay so for example:

The goal - I have league called American League (six teams), one called National League (six teams) and I want them to merge into a new League the United league with the two original leagues operating as independently expect the winners play in a playoff series. I also don’t want to lose the history of the two original leagues so I don’t want to just delete the leagues. So I guess the question is how do you deal with defunct leagues when you still want to keep the history?
Method
1. Create the two leagues and sim to the point when I want them to merge.
2. Create the new league (United League) with two sub leagues the American and National leagues.
3. Edit the league structure of each of the original leagues and move all the teams to the new league – press generate schedule.
4. Go to the new league and remove all the AI created teams and the press generate schedule.
5. Sim till the start of the season and viola game crashes.

No . The way I am reading it, it sounds like you're not doing it correctly which is why it's crashing. I do remember I had that problem until I figured it out. If I remember correctly, the way I did it was to save one subleague as a template, then delete it. Then save the other subleague as a quickstart game. Then load the quickstart and add the template to it..I'm testing 11, so I don't have the time or I'd have you send me you saved game and I'd try and set it up for you. Actually upload the saved game somewhere and PM me the link and I'll see what I can do.
As far as the history, as far as the history, I'm not sure. Just make sure you got the backup before you make any changes so you won't lose any info..

Everything here sounds fine except for the part about not deleting the old leagues. If I understood you correctly, you moved all of the teams to the new league, but left the old league with no teams in it, is this correct? If so, that's most likely what's causing it to crash. I don't think you can have leagues with no teams, but I don't have time at the moment to test it.

I understand wanting to save the history, but what about just creating an almanac instead. Maybe too late now?

BTW, I've merged leagues like this myself with no crashing, but I deleted the old league since I already saved the yearly almanac for it.
