Can't get real player pics to show
I'm not really new at OOTP but I've purchased each version since v5 but end up never playing the game for very long.
I'm really looking forward to v11 and the historical improvements and I have a new strong pc with a 22" screen (Win 7) and the game has never looked so good. I can get so much on the Widget screen and it looks great. HOWEVER I'm a real dufus when it comes to getting the real life player pics to show. I've spent almost an hour to no avail and I remember having trouble with this in the previous years. Except for them I finally figured it out. I've read the manual part...messed with the game setup...the fictional pic options etc. I've placed the pics (from the Padresfan site) in the photo folder...then the player folder...then went to the saved game 59season data folder etc. Nothing works. In the Fictional Pic Options I have this setup: Player Pics for.......all players Create Pl pics...upon player creation Update/Gen....Always if needed I have Fictional pics disabled in the game setup field. Any help would be appreciated. |

Assuming you've put them into the proper folders each time, do you have the game running while doing that? If so, close the game, then start it up again. If not, then all I can guess is that you aren't putting the pictures where they need to be.

Jack,
If you put the player pics in the photos folder, you'll see them when you start a new league. If you want them to show in an existing league, you need to place them in the saved games folder. In the saved games folder, you'll find your league. Place the player pics in the news\html\images folder of that league. |

Thanks fellas. Like I said I've put pics in the photo, player, and saved games data folders. Then deleted them.
I'll try again in the photos folder with a new league start. Frankly earlier today somewhere I read about the saved games/images folder but never could find a folder named images. I'll look again for the league I started. Appreciate the time you guys took and hey...good ol' Nellie Fox looks great in that pic. I noticed a place there pstrickert for a player's nickname. I wonder if you fill those in if nicknames will be in the pbp. Great stuff for OOTP 10...come on v11... |

Found the image folder but it didn't make any difference when I pasted the player pics in.
Guess I'll try to just start a new league. No biggie because I'm just trying to learn some basics of the game before v11 arrives. Sure does look great on my new 22" screen...even without real pics. |

I got one player pic from real life to show! Yeah. Wierd thing is it was Jim McAnany of my WSox and his pic is black & white. Does that signify anything about the setup?
Have a good day...whoever is listening... |

If you run a Google search for him, the first pic that shows up is in black and white. Weird that you're only getting one picture or none at all.

Found the answer. Started the 2009 season and went to add-ons in the game and dl PadresFan's all in one 2k9 season stuff. I let the game install it!!
Everything is perfect including the player pics! I think from now on I'll just let the add-ons section of the game do the extras for me. ![]() Thanks for all the help and time fellas... |

Unreal. 2009 player pics from Padresfan all show and look great. Really adds to the game immersion.
Dl the big 4,000+ folder at Padres site in the add-ons section...hit the install button and sha zaam...can't get player pics for any other season including my fav 1959. Strange...so frustrating... |

Ok...here is the end of the player pics not showing up story...AND IT IS A VERY HAPPY ENDING.
Someone may very well have mentioned this but it didn't hit me until I was working with the game tonight. The b&w Jim McAnany pic and a handful of others that show are each on an individual line in the Images folder. They are not in a folder named by the season they represent. duh... Listed in there were folders from 1950-1960. I went in and selected all the individual player pics in each folder and then pasted them in the Images folder between two of the player pics that did show in the game appropriately. Nellie Fox and Aparicio never looked so good! Presto...now they all show in the game!! It took several days...but all is well on my new PC with OOTP 10 and I'm really looking forward to v11 on the 12th...especially since my play style is historical. Thanks for all the help and for listening...bring on OOTP 11...!! |

I'm glad you were able to figure that out.

Appreciated your input Kelric...
Man oh man...OOTP 10 has been just like a totally new discovery for me. It looks and plays just fantastic. Very very immersive...even when my White Sox are losing! And v11 is going to have more historical accuracy?!! Wow...c'mon...April 12... |
