Dog Days Baseball

Dog Days Baseball
To join, contact Beorn at dbemont@rochester.rr.com

Now using OOTPX, and we have a couple vacancies

24 teams plus 3 minor league levels

Begun in 1945… human GMs beginning in 1953… now playing 1983
However, this is a fictional league in a fictional country – no attempt is made to recreate American “80s style” baseball… Our eras are independent of reality, and we have had a golden age for the long ball – but who knows what the future will hold

We keep it moving!
* 4 sims a week during the season
* sims every day in the off season
* very few missed sims in all the years we have been running
* season takes about 7 weeks of real life time
* off season takes about 12 days
Current calendar

Some outside-the-game-engine features:
* each city has certain built in advantages
* annual organizational goal
* sandwich picks compensation for lost free agents
Commish does not run a team, instead handling these aspects of the league

=> Originally a “stats only” league, with no current player ratings; now we use only vague (1-5) ratings, and scouts, so you still must rely mostly on player performance
=> coaches and scouts on… Potential ratings are a somewhat more informative 1-10

We are fine with 1st time online players… It is competitive, but not cutthroat, and lots of us are glad to give help if you are just starting out
Time zone friendly… We have always had more than our share of GMs living outside the US, because we never do chat room drafts, where time zone is crucial

A few other rules in place:
* Strict limits on option years, salary incentives, unbalanced salaries
* rule 5 enabled
* June 1 ammy draft… Rounds 1-3 on forum; remainder in-game
* Hidden players (foreign prospects) enabled
* Morale system enabled
* Interleague play and DH off
* Suspensions off

Great league folks! Wish i had more time and stayed with this league and not left a few seasons back. Great commish and great owner community! BTW, how has my old Denton Steelheads been doing?

Thanks for the kind words!

Poor Denton is struggling this season, a few games under .500 and not hitting the ball at all. As of mid-June, they are last in run scored.

btw, still looking for new management in Twin Falls. This is another team that is struggling, but they have some power hitters to work with.

As a previous GM, I can also attest that DDB is one of the best online experiences around. I really enjoyed the pace of this league. 4 sims per week means you can get through four seasons per RL year and Beorn is very committed to avoiding stoppages. So, even if Twin Falls is struggling now, you can get them back on their feet in no time. I was skeptical of fictional leagues when I joined, but found it to be one of my favorite OOTP experiences. Beorn is very prompt and never misses a beat.

You are missing one of the best around - sign up today!

Another season is in the books, with the Roadrunners bringing home the Kennel Cup.

We have one certain vacancy for next season (that's Kingsbury) with three other GMs likely stepping down. If you are interested in a stable fictional league, shoot me an email!

Almost time for spring training, and poor old Seneca Point is still looking for a GM!

Cottonwood and Kendall are now available. If you grab one right away, you'll be right in time to make a first round ammy pick.

I spent a bit of time in Dog Days Baseball and have nothing but praise for it. It's a great league with a top-notch commissioner and great group of owners. If you want a creative, deep league that'll keep you on your toes, this is the place to look.

Kingsbury, Kendall, and St. Bernard all need new management.

We're in early May and St. Bernard looks like it might be a contender, while Kingsbury looks like a good shot for the #1 ammy pick.
