Potential Historical League

I'm thinking of starting a historical league, starting in 1985, or 1990. 7 day sims, 5 days a week. (7 day because you can set 7-day lineups in the game)

having recalcs, retirements are all real-life stuff turned OFF, so historical players will play it out all over, with superstars may not turn into superstars and bench players could be MVP's!

this is just to gauge interest. If i get enough, i will go through and create the website and get the league going.

Thank you for your time!

i have the webspace, and about 6 hours a day to devote to the league while at work but due to the lack of interest (2 teams) this is a dead idea. admins can delete this topic, thanks.

If you created a league, such as you described, and put it online, and it had some appeal, I guarantee that you would find enough owners to fill it. (As long as you made a reasonable effort to recruit them.)

There are so many unknown variables, when discussing an imaginary league, you can't expect people to commit to it. A prospective owner must have something concrete to look at and consider, before he can decide whether he likes a league enough to join it.

The amount of interest and involvement that owners will show for an actual, constructed league is infinitely more than they will show for a proposal.

You can't join a proposal. You can't be a member of a proposal. You can't be loyal to a proposal. You can't love a proposal.

If you have imagination, webspace, and free time, build your league and start rocking. You'll get the owners.

Consider this fact: take a premium new league, fully fleshed-out and online--announce its launch on this forum, and you're going to pick up about one new owner a day. It takes the most interesting, well-done leagues at least a couple of weeks to fill up. You can't expect a bunch of people to flock around a proposed league, and get all excited about it. Not going to happen.

I've already told you I'm very interested in helping you get this league started and I know of one other person that I could get to join for sure. I completely agree with the above posts that basically say, if you build it well, the GM's will come. If you want to do it and you have 6 hours a day to do it, you need to go ahead and do it!!

understandable, I already run a highly successful hockey league (rated top-3 overall). That is why i was gauging the interest, not asking for members or loyalty, just minor interest. I go through about 2 hours a day on it, with programming, rosters, site maintenence and server maintenence. I don't want to start up a league, without at least a 50% interest, just to watch it fail and my time be wasted. The couple leagues I am a member of right now, are not full and have not been full. I am not looking to start a league that is only going to be 75% full and always looking to recruit.

A project starts with an idea, due to the below-average interest, it will die as an idea. I appreciate you all helping with everything, but its best to not start, then to have a less-than-full league with part-time members. Much Respect.

My plate is too full to join your league, pucku. BUT I'd like to say to anyone on the bubble of "showing interest..." Pucku is in the league I run (BCBL) and he's been very active since he joined and I, personally, would have no reservations about joining his league.

My historical itch was just recently scratched but the CBLRewind, which filled up very quickly, partly because the admins are proven to run a great league... but I also think there is a shortage of historical online leagues compared to the amount of fictional and RL Player leagues. I enjoy all three, but I believe historical leagues are in demand ATM.

I agree with the above. There are too few historical leagues and this would be sure to fill up once/if it got started. Appears to be dead now but I wish there was another historical league circa 1980-1990 available.
