WWBL converts to OOTP X looks to fill openings

The WWBL is looking to fill several teams. If interested please email me at soffenbaker AT gmail DOT com with the team you would like. We are a 24 team fictional league that started in real life year 2004. We simmed from 1984 and are just finished the 2019 season. We are making the move to OOTP X and would like to fill the league. we let teams run empty until we were ready to change versions.

Quebec Once one of the most successful franchises in the WWBL they have fallen on some hard times, are you the right person to turn them around?

Little Rock Another team that has suffered from not having a GM while we waited to convert


Daytona The Racers only finished 9 games back this season

San Jose finished 83-79 this season

Baton Rouge Another team that could be turned around pretty fast

New Mexico these guys could be good with the right leader


Tombstone this team had its original GM from when we started in real life year 2004, they finished 81-81 this season

When Did The League Start: The WWBL started online in Aug. 2004 - To give the league history we simmed the first 20 seasons from 1984 to 2004 with all computer run teams. In game year 2004 we filled the league with live GMs
Current Season: We are about to start season 2020 – Our 17th season online and our 6th year as an online league
Special Rules & Settings: 162 Game Season. DH in half the league. No scouts or coaches. No salary cap but league money is competitive for all teams using a league wide cash cap. Two International Leagues which add players to the Free Agent pool.

WWBL is a steady, well run fictional league that has been going for years. If you prefer fictional, WWBL is a good choice.

The WWBL is a great fictional league in which it is possible to turn a team around quickly if you know what you're doing.

I would disagree with some of the Commish's team assessments. His are based more on historical performance than roster analysis. When you're looking to turn a team around the latter is the way to go. Given that, there are two teams where I think Steve is off the mark:

Ithaca is probably the furthest from contention of all the open teams. But they have three excellent starting pitchers in place (two ace quality and another very good #2). However, the offense is very bad and the pitching behind the top three is thin. If you want to rebuild a team this is the one to take. Having those three starters either eliminates the need to do the hardest part of building a play-off contender, or alternatively gives you the option to trade one of them to get a handful of players to make the team more competitive right away.

Spokane is probably the best open team. They have starting pitching and a good offense. They should be able to contend for the AL Wild Card right away. A couple of trades to shift excess talent from the corners to up-the-middle might be in order, and that's about it.

This league is usually very stable from year-to-year, but we just converted to v10 and lost quite a few people. We're simming up to arbitration offers tonight (Tue the 26th); so if you're looking for a great, long running fictional league now is the time to join up.
