Batting Sides Switched

I'm in a long-term fictional league and this issue won't go away. The game generates LHB at the frequency of RHB in real life, and vice versa. For instance, of the top 24 hitters (in VORP) for the most recent season, 15 bat left, 4 are switch-hitters, and 5 bat right. Anybody have any clue how to fix this or what causes it? (Checking back 65 years, the ratios were more normal with RHB being dominant, so it's a player-creation issue.)
