Setting League Strategy After League Creation-help

I seem to continue to run into this problem.
I created a league starting in 2000, forgot to set league strategy prior to start of league. Set league strategy for 1973 after league creation, then it reverts to 2001 instead of 1974 at the start of the 2001 season. So now when I draft, instead of a SB of say $50,000 it's $9mil or so. Which no team in my league can afford.
What am I doing wrong? You can see some of my setting below. ( I just restarted the league again from a template).

You need to uncheck the progressing options (adjust Financials after each year).

and they would go from 1973 to 1974 to 1975 each each yr?

I don't think so. I'm guessing the progressing option will match up the game year with the historical financial year, and if turned off, will remain static. Can't say I've ever tried to do what you are trying to do.

There is a file that lists the historical financials with the year, and I'm sure this could be edited to do what you want. I'm not at my computer right now, so I'm not sure whether this is a global game file and would affect all your games or whether this get's copied for each save game.

dont know havent tried it yet, i will do some tests in a few weeks.
In my defunct league i had started in 2003 but set strategy to 1976. all teams used a 4 man rotation for the 1st 4 sns s. in yr 5 at 144 games they switched to 5 man rotation. it seemed most players were making 1981 money except when it came to signing bonuses which were at 9 million after 3 yrs. i had to turn that off since this league is fictional historical and the top pick didnt get signed 3 yrs in a row. which sucked for a guy who was only gonna play until 2010 when drafted in 2005. my alternative is to start in 2003 set everything to 1973, turn the option off so they dont evolve and set it at the start of preseason or offseason each yr.
