Run Time Error Messages
Hi,
I have been playing OOTP 11 for a few years now with no issues but lately I have run into several game crashes flagged by the wonderful Run-Time Error Message box and fail to desktop. It only started within the past few months and when it happened I would restart the game and everything up to the last save was fine. It usually happened when I tried to open up one of the log reports (like injury log) but not every time. Now it happens when I try to open the team roster or even look at my manager's email. And yesterday, this generic error has popped up twice while simply starting the game up. I get the main start up page, select my league and about 80% of the way in Run-Time Error dumps me out, can't even open up the league file. I just recently defragged the hard drive and installed ClearMem to help manage memory for my Windows XP system. As I said, until recently I have had no issues but this is frustrating me beyond belief. (I'm starting to have OOTP withdrawal pangs ) Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't be of more help than this, but I do recall a post or 2 that refers to your prob and if I remember correctly, one linked to another with a possible step by step fix that seemed to work for some. I think if you search for posts by endgame, you might find it. One thing you could try that might help is to restore you computer to a time just before this started happening and see if it helps. If all else fails and as a last resort, you can always try reinstalling. You don't have to unlicense to do this and it won't touch your saved games.
I assume you don't have a backup, but if you do, load your game from that. You do this by starting the game and click on Load Game and then click on the Restore from Backup button (bottom), select the backup you want and click the restore button. Good luck. BTW: CleanMem works better. It's free and non intrusive. Last edited by Bigrod; 10-14-2011 at 12:44 AM. |

Bigrod,
Thanks for the response. I will definitely research the threads. I also have a ticket submitted to Customer Support and will be uploading my league files when I get home from work today. I'm more than pleasantly surprised at the promptness of their response. And it's CleanMem that I installed not ClearMem like I originally typed... ![]() Terry |
