Career Ending Injury
Just ran across something I've never had before. I'm playing as the Atlanta Braves, and I'm into 2013, with Ryan Braun as my starting LF. I just got a messge stating that he has suffered a career ending injury. He is signed for 3 more years following this at $8,500,000, $10,000,000, and $12,000,000 respectively. Other than being immediately searching for a LF, how does the game handle this contract situation? Will he simply be retired at the end of the year? Is there anything I can do?

Yes, he will be retired at the end of the year.

When one occurs, I just go to the editor and make it a 356 day injury. That hurts 'em enough IMHO.

I feel the pain of Braun. I just traded my top 3B prospect for a top 1B prospect because I'm going to have to deal a 34 yr old Pujols in the off-season because his contract is killing me. About a week later Pedro Alvarez my 26 yr old stud 3B has a career ender with a torn labrum and now I'm stuck looking for a 3B.

To specifically answer the question. At the end of the year the player will retire and you will NOT be on the hook for the remainder of his contract. You will have to pay only for the current season.
